Kayla Itsines GWR attempt // 17.11.16

“Your body can be your best friend or your worst enemy. It all depends on how you treat it” – Unknown.

For those that know me I have been an avid follower of Kayla Itsines and her workout programmes for a number of years. Back in 2013 I was bought her Bikini Body Guide as I needed some motivation to get back into working out, and everything I was previously doing just wasn’t cutting it anymore. I’m sure as many of you know, if you don’t have the motivation to go to the gym, sooner or later it’s gonna stop altogether. Well that’s where I was at, I was lacking motivation, I wasn’t enjoying the workouts I was doing when I got there…and overall I just wasn’t getting anything out of it anymore.

That’s where Kayla came into it. I started her programme and although I found it hard at first, I stuck at it…and in no time I was seeing results. All be it, they were small, they were results, and this was the first time in a long time I actually felt like I was getting somewhere. I was hooked. Unfortunately after starting and stopping over the last couple of years, work got in the way, I moved to the other side of the world and I just didn’t have the time to get back into the swing of things.

Until now…Kayla was holding a Guinness World Record Attempt bootcamp in Melbourne! Unfortunately none of my friends were interested/free at the time, so I figured I would just go alone (this is waaaay out of my usual comfort zone).

I went along and made friends with these two girls who were waiting in the line next to me, this definitely made me feel a lot more at ease. We took photos together and set down our yoga mats side by side. The whole vibe of the event was so welcoming and I genuinely felt like I’d met so many of these people before just because we all shared a passion for the same thing!

DJ TigerLily was playing throughout the event and Kayla and Tobi led the workouts up on stage. Overall we broke not one, not two, but FIVE world records…how insane is that?

  1. Most people doing star jumps.
  2. Most people doing squats.
  3. Most people doing sit ups.
  4. Most people doing lunges.
  5. Most people running in place simultaneously.

I’ll pop a few pictures below from the event – excuse the crappy quality (iPhone 4s isn’t the best, but then again…it’s better than nothing).

I genuinely had the best time, and it gave me the motivation I needed to kickstart my workouts again! You will often find me in the gym rocking my Kayla Itsines GWR attempt t-shirt! Fingers crossed there will be some more bootcamps I can attend before my time in Australia comes to an end.

If you’re in a similar boat to me and you just need to try something new then I would highly recommend to buy Kayla’s bikini body guide...or try out her free 7 day free trial…you won’t regret it!
